On the last day of renovation, Austin, William and Olivia listen to the results and they win the bed! Lao then lets him borrow his member card after a while and Austin enters the lottery by buying the ticket. So, Austin decides to negotiate with him about getting in to the club. Austin and William impatiently think of anyone who could belong in that club until Uncle Lao comes in for some tea and mentions about the lottery and that he's taking part because he is a member of the club. It is a furniture lottery hosted by: Joe Warden, a skilled, professional furniture maker, and he's giving away the most comfortable bed in the entire universe! So instead of getting a normal bed, Austin and William enter the lottery but then realise that to be able to participate, you must be part of: 'The Warden Club'. In addition to being a butler, he was also a former race car champion and a skilled saxophone player.Olivia never liked her bedroom so Austin decides to renovate it to make mom happy! While renovating, Austin notices a lottery in the daily newspaper. However, he is quick to make friends with Tom upon discovering their mutual passion for fishing.

Another of William's idiosyncrasies is that he tends to judge people prematurely, as is the case with him and Tom, the local ranger at the Lake House.

Though William loves Olivia very much, he can be a bit jealous sometimes, especially with other male characters.

He is also very spry for his age, indicated by his tendency to indicate happiness by jumping up and clicking his heels.

William is revealed to be a troublemaker when he breaks the floor in the living room.

William owes a complete Butler's Herald collection in his bookcase in the Hall.

He tends to be a little less optimistic than his wife or son. He is a retired butler and is also a huge troublemaker in the game. He seems to like joking and eating, and can be a bit stubborn. He has achievements in golf and car racing. But he's definitely the star when it comes to making coffee. Sometimes he will cook together with Olivia: he chops veggies for her or make donuts.

He proposed to her in the hall of the house which he inherited from his grandfather, Charles Barrow. William and Olivia were engaged in March 1975 and officially got married soon after.
